Physical, sexual and emotional abuse are difficult topics to talk about, and up until recently, a cultural taboo to address publicly. In 2001 we began breaking the silence on these topics through a variety of initiatives, including the Collaborative Scroll and the series of Walk Unafraid public interventions that incorporate the words of abuse survivors, family, friends, social workers, artists, and law enforcement professionals.
It's been an explosively creative year! Here’s a quick rundown of what’s been going on. . . The year saw me stretch into new areas of creative expression – blasting into totally new territory for me – in addition to creating installations, drawings and paintings, I pushed myself to explore performance, video, music, spoken word, sound and dance - combining many of these disciplines with the intent to create more experiential expressions of my ideas. Here's a peak at the 3rd Terra Temporalis installation. . . This one was commissioned by Jim Benson for his new wine bar in Pittsfield, MA and will be on view at the Y Bar for one year. At the end of 2012 the drawing will be painted out and Gabrielle Senza will create another temporary installation in the space.

But for Housatonic artist Gabrielle Senza, much of the meaning in her latest work is derived directly from its impermanence.
