This series began in the early nineties as a multi-media visual journal of my travels through the Rust Belt of America. Documenting the declining industrial cities located throughout Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio, as well as Pennsylvania, I discovered some very ominous sites – some abandoned, some active and some protected by watchmen who had very little respect for anyone with a camera coming around the property. This is a selection of the large scale charcoal drawings I produced soon after my return to Housatonic.
