SUMMARY:I Must Be Invisible: A Laboratory of Belonging
DESCRIPTION:  \nA live experiment in seeing and being seen. \n\n\n\n\n\nHave you ever felt invisible?\nOr wished you could disappear?\nThis is a paradox many of us navigate every day. Our need to be seen conflicts with our need for safety; our longing for connection bumps up against the fear of exposure. \nJoin us in the In/Visibility Lab for a lively exploration of this very paradox. For over 25 years\, artist and facilitator Gabrielle Senza has investigated the phenomenon of invisibility as a lived experience. This workshop starts from a place of personal erasure to explore our universal need for belonging. It unfolds from a personal monologue into a shared\, participatory inquiry. \nA Performance Lecture & Workshop on Belonging\nBlending live performance\, original music\, and guided audience interaction\, this gathering examines the complex forces that make us visible or invisible to one another\, and how those forces define the boundaries of our belonging. \nAssisted by ‘Lab Technician’ Dan Ruderman\, Gabrielle facilitates a container for collective witnessing. \nIn the In/Visibility Lab\, we don’t seek simple answers. We create a space for deeper questions: When does visibility mean connection? When does it mean risk? And how can understanding this dynamic help us see ourselves—and each other—more compassionately? \n  \nThis gathering is designed for: \n\nAnyone who has navigated the complex dynamics of being seen or unseen.\nAdvocates and community builders interested in empathy and authentic connection.\nIndividuals looking for meaningful\, creative dialogue.\n\n  \nYou’ll discover: \n\nA new perspective on visibility in your life.\nThe connection found in shared\, creative questioning.\nThe opportunity to contribute to the Archive of Invisible Things.\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Details\nWe’ll be gathering at the CitizenM Hotel in the heart of Times Square – offering a contemporary\, art-filled space where you can step away from the fast pace of the city\, pick up a coffee\, and explore in/visibility in a thoughtfully held container. \n\n\n\n🎟 Spots are limited—Reserve yours here!\n\nPLEASE NOTE: We’ll start gathering at 12:00 PM. The session will begin promptly at 12:30 PM. Additional venue details will be provided after registration. \nTicket Pricing: A Community-Supported Model \nIn the spirit of making this inquiry accessible while sustaining the work\, ticket prices are offered on a community-supported scale. Please choose the tier that best fits your circumstances: \n\nCommunity Ticket ($22): Held for those with limited financial resources. We’re glad you’re here.\nSustainer Ticket ($33): The standard rate\, covering the core costs of the gathering.\nSupporter Ticket ($55): Pays it forward\, helping to sustain the Lab and keep Community Tickets available.\n\n______ \nWhat Participants Are Saying\nYour mindset\, Gabrielle\, as a feminist\, creates a poetic\, participatory way of knowing—rooted in care. In my mind\, you are the creator of sacred spaces for others. This matters.\n– Leah K. \nIt was an empowering session\, and everyone was so open and got vulnerable which contributed to its magic. I highly recommend it to anyone willing to explore these concepts and dig deeper.\n– Anna D. \n______ \n\nA Note From Your Host\nThe In/Visibility Lab was born from a long-term artistic investigation into one of humanity’s most fundamental conditions: the longing to be seen\, heard\, and appreciated. After facilitating this work internationally\, I am now offering small group sessions in my Berkshire studio and other intimate spaces in the United States. This is a laboratory for creative inquiry and human connection\, designed for those who feel called to explore these questions in a thoughtfully held environment. \n\n~ Gabrielle\n
