For many years, I struggled with time management. I would diligently block off hours in my calendar for important tasks—the ones I knew I needed to get done but kept putting off. And yet, time and time again, I’d ignore those scheduled blocks. I barely noticed when I skipped them, but I felt the weight of those unfinished tasks piling up.
Then I spotted a pattern. While I routinely missed solo work sessions, I never missed a scheduled meeting or collaborative session with other people. If someone was expecting me to show up, I showed up—100% of the time.
That realization sparked an idea: What if I created a space where I wasn’t working alone?
Enter: Weekday Morning Co-Working Power Hours.
The concept was simple: I invited a few friends to join me on Zoom from 9–11 AM, Monday through Friday, with one goal—to get sh*t done. The task itself didn’t matter. Whether it was writing emails, drafting proposals, creating art, or even going for a run, the purpose was the same: to show up, set an intention, work in focused silence, and check in at the end.
What I quickly discovered was that I wasn’t the only one who needed this. Others—especially those who work from home or for themselves—were craving structure, accountability, and a sense of community in their workday.
Now, over a year later, this has become my most effective time-management strategy—hands down. I’ve tried countless methods, but nothing has worked as well as this.
If you’ve struggled with procrastination or motivation, I highly recommend finding (or starting!) a co-working group. It could change everything.
Have you tried virtual co-working? I’d love to hear your experience!
